SECURITY
I think it right to separately mention security, as I know that when travelling anywhere, security is paramount and key in most people’s thoughts, particularly guests travelling for the first time.
Orlando is generally a very safe area and the police are very proactive in protecting tourists, but of course like most places in the world, there will always be crimes and burglaries committed.
It is a common belief that a gated community is safer than a non-gated community - in our view, this is not the case as there are as many break-ins on gated communities as there are non-gated communities and with gated communities, it can be easy for thieves to gain access codes to gated communities as there are trades and deliveries being made on these communities every day and not all have 24/7 gatekeepers, but at the end of the day it comes down to personal choice.
SANDY RIDGE
The community of Sandy Ridge is a non-gated community, with a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, some of the permanent residents are serving police officers, who keep an eye out!. As an owner of a short term rental property, we have opted to install our own security measures to help keep our guest safe. We recommend you arm the alarm whenever you are away from the property and should you wish to arm whilst you are in the home, there is an "arm stay" facility to allow you to do this. In addition, the community jointly pays for mobile security 24/7 with monitored CCTV on all entrances and exits.
VILLA SECURITY
As mentioned above, our villa has a monitored 24/7 alarm system, it also have alarms on the the 2 exits to the pool for you and your family's safety and we ask that you do not deactivate these during your stay. It also has a safety deposit box and for additional security for our guests we also have our own CCTV cameras covering the pool equipment, front door and garage entrance, there are no cameras in the home or public areas e.g. pool area. so our guests can feel very secure whether away or at home.
